Top 3 Reasons to Get Certified in Azure

Unless you’ve been living on a beach in Tahiti living off of cabana appetizers and drinks with little umbrellas, you know that Microsoft has a whole platform in the cloud called Azure. Servers with ridiculous capability all living happily in the cloud. Happy cloud, that’s where it’s at.

You may not know that Microsoft has a certification for the Azure platform (you can find out more about it here). It’s pretty new, so a lot of people don’t yet have it or even know it exists.

Here’s why you should think really seriously about getting certified in Azure, even though it’s pretty new on the landscape:

  1. The cost savings alone put Azure on the radar of every CEO and CIO concerned about profits. Which is all of them, by the way.
With Azure, you don’t pay for your hardware, the electricity, and everything else that comes with owning your own data center. Sure, you get to manage your virtual servers, set it all up, but you only pay for what you use, when you use it. If you don’t need a server, you can spin it down and remove it. And since everybody is going to need people who know how to set this stuff up and take care of these servers in the happy cloud, why not be one of them?
  2. Cloud is sexy.
And when we say sexy, we mean everybody wants it. Cloud certification looks good on a resume. It shows you are on the cutting edge, willing to invest in your career to keep you in the know. If you’ve got the skills, you’ll get the pay. Prove you know by getting certified.
  3. Be the first kid on the block to get yours.
Prime movers are always paid the most. Those who lag behind make some money, but not as much as those willing to step out first. Think about prime movers like Amazon and Apple. Sure, they’re companies, but they exemplify the advantages of prime movers and they definitely are in the winning brackets of their verticals. Azure is also slowly creeping into a variety of facets in
Windows Server, so why not be able to implement the new features as soon as your boss gets back from the next Microsoft sales event? Because you know it’s going to happen–he or she will go to one of these events where they show off all the cool Azure toys, and as soon as he or she comes back, it will be on your to-do list to implement. Get ready now.

In order to get certified, a class never hurts. As of this blog post, class 20533 is still in development and won’t be released until December 2014. But in the meantime, you can start your training for FREE online at the Microsoft Virtual Academy here.

Seriously, the Azure platform isn’t going anywhere, it’s a convenient and secure way to get a ton of stuff done. Start playing in the Azure sandbox now and be ahead of the curve this time around!
