Sending Instant Message Attachments Directly from an Office 2013 Application

A tip from Directions’ Senior Applications Instructor…

Did you know you can instant message an office file directly from the application?  Simply save your file and send it from the backstage menu.  For example, if you are working on an Excel spreadsheet and you would like to share it with a co-worker simply do the following:

  1. First, make sure you are signed into Lync.
  2. Next, save your file.
  3. Click on File.
  4. Choose Share.
  5. Select Send by Instant Message.

  6. Address the Lync contact in the To: field.
  7. Type a subject.
  8. Type a message.
  9. Click Send IM button.
  10. The recipient can open or save the attachment.

It’s that simple! We hope you enjoyed learning this neat tip on sending Instant Message Attachments directly from a Microsoft Office application. Learn more about Directions’ Microsoft Lync training classes here, or check out our Microsoft Office 2013 training classes here.
