Editing Messages in Outlook

Outlook 2010/2013 – Need to edit a message you received or add notes to it?

Have you ever received a message and just wanted to simply add notes to it? Or maybe you wanted to change the Subject of a received email to add something to make it easier to recognize or find in the future or add (or delete) content to the message. Outlook 2010 allows you to do so, although the option isn’t exactly in a straight forward location. You can use the Edit Message command to do this. Follow these simple steps and you will be marking up your messages before you know it.

1. First, open the message you need to mark up or comment.

2. Second, click on the Actions button in the Message ribbon.

3. Then, select Edit Message.

4. Annotate your message just as you would a Word document. Consider using a different font, color or add attributes if you are adding comments so your comments stand out.

5. Click the “X” to close the message.

6. Click Yes to save changes to the message.
